Maryland Job Report – February


Maryland gained 16,700 jobs and the unemployment rate decreased to 5.0% in February. Compared to this time last year, Maryland jobs are up by 92,100. That is an over-the-year increase of 3.5%

Jobs Added

There were 16,700 jobs added in the month of February. This is the most jobs added the state has seen since July 2021. The Education and Health Services sector experienced the most growth with an increase of 5,400 jobs. A side note from the BLS states “December-January’s preliminary jobs estimate revised upward by 2,100 jobs, from a loss of 8,100 to a loss of 6,000 jobs. Since the beginning of 2022, Maryland has gained 16,700 jobs.

Unemployment Rate

The unemployment rate in Maryland has remained steady at 5% since the beginning of 2022. Throughout 2021 the unemployment rate remained at a steady decline, and now the state is holding steady.
