Sudina was founded in 1983 by Chuck Sudina as one of the premiere recruiting firms in the Greater Maryland area. After the passing of our founder in 2009, Joan Sweeney and Chris Hodgkiss acquired Sudina and continued Chuck’s legacy of lasting professional relationships. Four decades later, we carry on the Sudina tradition of forming partnerships that grow businesses, transform teams, and improve the lives of those we serve.

Joan is proud to lead a team of professionals providing full-cycle executive recruiting services for clients in the Maryland market. Her 30+ years of experience have connected her with some of the most influential companies in Maryland, and her professional network spans far beyond. Joan is passionate about her role guiding and advising clients toward hiring remarkable talent or finding their next strategic career opportunity.
After graduating from Loyola University in Maryland with a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Joan embarked on a career in the corporate accounting field. As Joan developed her professional network, she was recruited by Sudina’s founder, Chuck Sudina, to establish the new Accounting and Finance division of Sudina Search.
In 2010, Joan and her Partner, Chris Hodgkiss, acquired Sudina Search and have continued to build upon the firm’s reputable foundation. She focuses on business development throughout the Baltimore region and beyond. Across all industries, she partners with her clients to understand their current organizational challenges and identify exceptional talent for mid- to C-level executive searches.
Joan is a dedicated volunteer and advocate for giving back to the underserved and her community. She has been honored to serve on the Board of Trustees of Notre Dame Preparatory High School, the Board of Directors of Archbishop Curley High School, and the Board of Directors for GB Charities, a foundation that raises funds for educational scholarships for students and families in need.
In her spare time, Joan serves on the Board of Directors for GB Charities, Archbishop Curley High School, and on the Board of Trustees of Notre Dame Preparatory High School.

With over twenty-five years of recruiting experience, Chris matches his extensive network of fantastic clients with top-qualified candidates in the greater Maryland area. He believes that one of the toughest decisions in life is choosing a career, and he partners with clients and candidates alike to ensure the ideal placement is made each time.
Born and raised in the Baltimore area, Chris graduated from Towson State University. Chris entered the recruiting field in 1995, joining the Sudina Search team shortly thereafter in 1997.
After serving as a leader and mentor at Sudina Search, Chris and his Partner, Joan Sweeney, acquired the firm in 2010. Chris is proud to lead an outstanding team of recruiters dedicated to providing clients with exceptional talent. Over the years, he has worked with a variety of clients, advising and consulting to build a better recruiting strategy. Chris’s passion for his community, clients, and candidates is apparent in every placement he makes and every partnership he fosters.
Sudina Team

Trey brings over a decade of industry experience to the team at Sudina Search. He graduated from Wheaton College in Massachusetts with a bachelor’s degree in Economics and is a graduate of St. Paul’s School in Brooklandville, MD. Before Sudina, Trey worked with an environmental search firm for five years in Boston and New Jersey. He joined Sudina in September of 2012 as a member of the Accounting and Finance Division.
His professionalism is a quality that stands out, but he’s also patient, comprehensive, and supportive of all his clients’ and candidates’ decisions. Trey is an expert at what he does, and he’s the perfect guide for any client or candidate who needs superior advice.
Outside of work, Trey golfs, serves as an active member of the Ducks Unlimited Local Chapter, and spends time with his family.

After graduating from Towson State University in Finance and Small Business, he began his career with Robert Half in their Finance and Accounting Division and over time he moved to the corporate world and was a Director of Talent Acquisition for a publicly-traded corporation. Joining Sudina Search in 2017, Jonathan brought over twenty years of recruiting experience with both agency and corporate companies to the Technology Division.
With a demonstrated history of working in the information technology and services industry, he enjoys working hard, closing deals, and helping clients achieve their goals. Jonathan is fiercely loyal to his team and ensures their success by leading with example. His business development skills are advanced and his candidate recruitment abilities are among the best in the industry.
Outside of work, Jonathan enjoys gardening, cooking, and spending time with his cat.

Marshall joined Sudina Search in February 2014 and serves in the capacity of Director in the Accounting and Finance Division. He offers over 30 years of financial recruiting experience that he leverages for Sudina Search clients. From 1986-2014, he owned and managed Salsbury & Associates Personnel, Inc., a highly respected placement and staffing service specializing in accounting, financial, and administrative personnel. With a career foundation in both public and private accounting, and a former active CPA, Marshall quickly engages with clients and candidates alike to understand their needs.
Since joining the Sudina team, Marshall is recognized for his in-depth knowledge of employment issues and has been called upon as a corporate consultant and an expert witness in legal cases. He is very active in the community, having served in a host of positions, including president of a prominent non-profit institution.
Stuart attended the University of Baltimore and majored in Accounting. Before working in the Executive Search industry, Stuart owned a wholesale and retail tropical fish business. He began his career in recruiting with Fortune Personnel and Holland Associates, where he worked with Chuck Sudina. In 1983, Stuart joined Sudina Search to assist Chuck with building the firm’s information technology network.
A valuable member of the Sudina Search family, Stuart has an extraordinary history with building lasting relationships with his clients and candidates. He enjoys working with people, being able to help a candidate find that right job, successfully recruiting the perfect individual for his clients, and collaborating with an outstanding staff.
Stuart loves that Maryland has a variety of landscapes, like the Eastern Shore and the Catoctin area with its waterfalls and mountains. On the weekends, Stuart takes day trips with his friends and family, and enjoys spending time around the water.

A graduate of Salisbury University, Luke embarked on a career in the academic field as a Social Studies teacher at the middle and high school level. Intrigued by the recruiting industry, Luke joined Sudina Search in 2014 as a member of the Information Technology division. He quickly became a valuable member of the firm developing a vast network of I/T professionals. In 2018 Luke relocated to Ohio to join a national recruiting firm but it wasn’t long before he returned to his roots, rejoining Sudina Search in 2020.
He leverages his experience as an educator to guide candidates from all types of industries. He enjoys resume consultation, career discussions with candidates, and many other career-related tasks.

Coming from a service industry background, Morgan has held a variety of positions ranging from Bartender to a Catering & Events Coordinator. Morgan Gregis joined Sudina after her previous landlord, Jonathan Claggett, referred her to Sudina in 2019. She appreciates Sudina’s understanding and willingness to adapt internally and externally through positive communication.
At Sudina, she is known for her open ear and dedication to her candidates. Morgan loves talking to candidates and helping them find the best career for them.
Outside of work, Morgan loves being active – running, yoga, hiking, and exploring new areas (any one of those by the water is a big bonus).

Marcel graduated from Salisbury University in 2016 with a degree in Business Administration & Communications. Before joining Sudina Search in 2019, Marcel worked at Under Armour’s corporate headquarters where he was focused on providing stellar customer service to both internal and external clients. His customer-oriented experience and ability to utilize social media channels to reach a target audience has been instrumental in his success recruiting for the Sudina Search Accounting division.
Marcel enjoys engaging with a variety of candidates every day. He’s especially proud of Sudina’s search process and their ability to help clients showcase their individuality.
Marcel enjoys beach volleyball, basketball, playing music, and hanging out with his friends on the weekends.
After graduating from James Madison University with a degree in Public Relations, Adam joined Sudina Search as a Marketing Specialist in 2020. He plays an integral role increasing the firm’s brand awareness and managing all marketing initiatives to include social media and other external campaigns.
Adam enjoys working with a great group of people that feel more like a family than workplace acquaintances.
Adam enjoys experiencing all four seasons, watching Maryland sports teams, and driving to the beach or mountains. Adam spends his time outside of work going to concerts, producing music, playing soccer, watching Netflix, and relaxing with his family and pets.
