Maryland Job Report
According to the preliminary survey data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics , Maryland gained 4,700 jobs and the unemployment rate decreased to 5.0% in December. This is the lowest unemployment rate since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Maryland only added 4,700 jobs to the market, which is the second lowest amount since November of 2021. Maryland has regained 324,600 total jobs with 304,300 gained in the private sector. Since the beginning of 2021, Maryland has gained a total of 99,700 jobs.
Unemployment Rate
Unemployment fell to 5% in December, the lowest it has been in over 6 months. Experts believe it will continue on this steady decline for the coming months. The increasing amounts of work-from-home (WFH) jobs are playing a large role in this steady unemployment decline. With more WFH options becoming available, more people are willing to work.
