Prominent company in the BWI Corridor seeks a dynamic and detail-oriented individual to join their team as a Buyer. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the procurement process, maintaining optimal inventory levels, negotiating pricing, and looking for new products. Essential Functions:

• Purchasing Management: Procure approved products based on inventory minimum and maximum levels.
• Order Expedition: Expedite orders and control inventory levels to meet customer service standards and established turn criteria.
• Inventory Accuracy: Conduct ongoing cycle counts, research variances, identify sources of errors, and process adjustments to maintain accurate physical inventory.
• Vendor Relations: Meet with vendors, negotiate pricing, and explore marketing programs.
• Inventory Optimization: Identify and reduce slow-moving and dead inventory items, making recommendations for sale or disposal.
• Product Introduction: Assist the sales force in locating and introducing new products, including pricing, marking literature, etc.
• Marketing Support: Work with sales team to find new products or replacement products.
• Market Awareness: Keep abreast of market and product developments.

Job Qualifications:

1. Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) with a minimum of three years’ experience in the purchasing department of a wholesale distribution or retail trade company.
2. Technical Skills: Proficient in PC/CRT use and Microsoft Excel.
3. Language Skills: Strong written and oral communication skills in English, essential for effective interaction with external vendors and internal sales/customer service personnel.
4. Mathematical and Analytical Skills: Strong mathematical and problem-solving skills, including proficiency in calculations with whole numbers, fractions, decimals, rates, ratios, and percentages.
